What is an Avatar? [A video by year 3 students]

Today, we will create an avatar for our blog. Our avatar is a representation of us when we are online. It helps to keep us safe by keeping our real identity private. Other people will get to know us by the things that we post and the avatar we use.

What might other people think about you by looking at your avatar? This is something that you need to think about when you create your avatar.

We will look at a few avatars and brainstorm what we think the people who use these avatars want us to think about them and what type of people they are. We will use padlet as the collaboration tool for this brainstorm.

Join our class Padlet and add your thoughts to the wall. Your comments must try to answer these questions below. Please remember to write  your first name on your Padlet posts!

Questions…

  • What words would you use to describe each avatar?
  • What is the personality of the person using this avatar like?
  • What does the owner of the avatar want you to think about them?
